What is SPOT?
SPOT is the World's First Satellite Messenger
Unlike cell phones that have limited coverage the SPOT satellite messenger network's coverage works around the world.
- There is life after cell phone signals die. SPOT messenger uses GPS satellite signal to determine your position in the remotest locations and accurate to within 20 feet
- SPOT messenger onboard GPS chip determines your exact location and sends your location and message to SPOT's commercial satellite system
- SPOT commercial satellites relay your message to satellite antennas around the world
- Satellite antenna and support equipment route your message and location to appropriate network (internet email, cell phone SMS or emergency call center)
Coverage
SPOT works around the world - even where cell phones don't - including virtually all of North America, Europe and Australia, portions of South America, Northern Africa and Northeastern Asia, and hundreds or thousands of miles offshore of these areas.
